Physical Therapist - Milwaukee, WI
Responsibilities
- Help patients improve their mobility, manage pain, and regain functionality following an injury, surgery, or illness.
- Achieve a focus on Neuro during assessments and treatment plans.
- Evaluate patients by assessing their range of motion, strength, and pain levels to identify underlying causes of limitations.
- Create personalized treatment plans based on evaluation results and clinical guidelines.
- Administer manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and other modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat/cold therapy.
- Provide education on techniques for continued recovery, injury prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with professional standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Supervise and instruct physical therapy assistants or aides when applicable.
- Ensure a safe and clean treatment environment.
- Stay updated with current physical therapy practices, research, and innovations.
Requirements
- Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Current and active license to practice as a Physical Therapist in the state in which the job is located.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
- Caregiving and patient-centered approach to therapy.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and documentation standards.
- Over 1 year of experience in a clinical or hospital setting is required.
- Experience in a specialized area such as orthopedic, neurologic, pediatric, geriatric, or sports therapy is a plus.
- Must be able to pass all necessary health requirements for hospital employment, including drug screening and background check.
- Experience in Neuro is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting.
- Occasional heavy lifting of up to 20 lbs and regular pushing and pulling throughout the duration of tests.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are necessary for operating equipment.
