Responsibilities
- Evaluating patient abilities and developing personalized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and the care team
- Delivering evidence-based interventions that restore movement, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life
- Monitoring progress, refining therapy plans, and ensuring accurate, timely documentation of outcomes
- Educating patients and families on exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and safe practices that promote independence
- Collaborating across disciplines to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and smooth transitions throughout recovery
- Leading by example—mentoring therapy assistants or students while upholding HCA Healthcare’s values of excellence, compassion, and integrity
- Creating an environment and culture that enables Rehabilitation Services to fulfill the mission of the Hospital to meet or exceed its goals
- In collaboration with the Medical Director and other clinical staff, assuring the development of quality inpatient rehabilitation programming to meet market needs
- Collaborating effectively with all members of the rehabilitation team within the inpatient rehabilitation unit
- Working with the Therapy Services Manager to ensure the supply of appropriate resources to support the programs, services, organizational structure and staffing levels necessary for quality rehabilitation services
- Coordinating as necessary with inpatient rehabilitation counterparts
- Implementing operations and processes to support, facilitate, and maintain uniform performance of inpatient care including documentation
- Providing a safe, secure, and infection/hazard-free environment
- Supporting the Therapy Services Manager in development, implementation, and monitoring of the quality management plan for inpatient rehabilitation services
- Supporting interdepartmental performance-improvement/customer satisfaction activities
- Demonstrating high ethical standards in customer service through all interactions with the patients, families, coworkers, staff, other hospital departments, physicians, community and all others
- Creating a high quality, professional clinical environment to facilitate the necessary recruitment of appropriate numbers of qualified staff
- Performing positive specific job function at an acceptable level

- Providing on and off-site clinical assessments for potential patients for the facility

- Providing ongoing education to patient and family as needed
- Participating in the admission process to the Rehabilitation Unit and communicating pertinent information to all involved parties
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, payor representatives, hospital administration, community members, and referral sources
- Communicating results and trends to supervisor
- Providing feedback to supervisor on ongoing basis in regard to concerns, improvements, changes, etc.
- Identifying areas needing improvement and utilizing the facility performance process
- Actively participating in comprehensive program evaluation system
- Proposing new policies and procedures that will make the admission process smooth, more comfortable and more effective for patients
- Serving as an educational resource to patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, payor representatives, physicians, discharge planners, therapists, community members, and other parties as appropriate regarding rehabilitation issues
- Working with supervisor to ensure the program meets all local, state, The Joint Commission, regulatory standards
- Representing program in appropriate hospital committees
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physical Therapy
- State licensure
- BLS
- Direct inpatient rehab experience; one year or more preferred, involving extensive knowledge of rehab/criteria
- Excellent interpersonal skills/communication skills
- Excellent organization/time management skills
- Excellent customer service skills; professional appearance
- Experience in providing educational programs
