About the role

As a Physical Therapist, you play a vital role in helping patients regain strength, restore mobility, and rebuild confidence following illness, injury, or surgery. Working closely with physicians and the care team, you’ll assess each patient’s needs and create personalized therapy plans designed around meaningful goals, active engagement, and exceptional patient outcomes. Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient abilities and develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and the care team.
• Deliver evidence-based interventions that restore movement, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life.
• Monitor progress, refine therapy plans, and ensure accurate, timely documentation of outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and safe practices that promote independence.
• Collaborate across disciplines to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care and smooth transitions throughout recovery.
• Lead by example—mentor therapy assistants or students while upholding HCA Healthcare’s values of excellence, compassion, and integrity.
• Provide evaluations and treatment interventions within the scope of practice established by law and professional code of ethics.
• Assess and evaluate therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status and participate in the development of the total plan of care.
• Provide purposeful and skilled therapeutic care at the patient’s home, using procedures and techniques to produce a change in condition/function consistent with the physician’s plan of care.
• Observe and report patient’s reaction to treatment and changes in patient’s condition.
• Instruct patient/family/caregiver in the use of therapies, exercises, therapeutic appliances, and/or prosthetic devices to be used outside of therapy sessions.
• Ensure accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with service/department guidelines.
• Communicate pertinent payor needs/requirements to physician, treatment team, patient, and patient’s family in a timely manner.
• Prioritize caseload and, as appropriate, determine daily staffing needs and coordinate assignments/handoffs.
• Demonstrate efficient and appropriate use of support staff (technicians, PTA’s, other clinicians, and office staff).
• Provide a safe, secure, and infection/hazard-free environment.
• Serve as an educational resource to patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, payor representatives, physicians, discharge planners, therapists, community members, and other parties regarding rehabilitation issues.
• Maintain current knowledge of and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
• Assume accountability for promoting consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.
• Maintain a patient-first philosophy and support the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.
• Participate as an engaged, active member of the healthcare team and positively promote the rest of the team to patients/families/caregivers and other colleagues.
• Provide general supervision for PT Assistants, as applicable.
• Communicate clearly and lead in a way that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”

Requirements

• Currently licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state(s) of practice, in accordance with law and regulation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy.

Qualifications

• 1+ years' experience in Physical Therapy (preferred).
• 1+ years' experience in direct inpatient rehab (preferred).
