Responsibilities
- Evaluates and treats patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical function and developmental disorders.
- Evaluates and treats infants, children, and adolescents for various health conditions.
- Addresses motor development, strength, range of motion, endurance, balance, coordination, gait, etc.
- Interviews children and family members, using physical examination to diagnose movement disorders.
- Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
- Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during episode of care.
- Promotes patient/caregiver self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
- Floats to adult units if needed if pediatric patient census fluctuates.
- Evaluates and treats pediatric patients from birth to 18 years old, regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of physical function and developmental disorders.
- Works in settings including inpatient, inpatient emergency department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- New Mexico Physical Therapy License required or New Mexico Physical Therapy provisional/temporary license accepted.
- Less than one year of experience in physical therapy.
- Doctor of Physical Therapy Preferred.
- BLS required at time of hire.
