About the role

Select Specialty Hospital Birmingham is a critical illness recovery hospital dedicated to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services to chronically ill patients. Physical Therapists (PTs) are integral in offering compassionate, high-quality care throughout the recovery process.

Responsibilities

  • Performing initial and ongoing systematic patient assessments.
  • Promoting continuous quality improvement within the department.
  • Teaching and counseling patients and families.
  • Setting goals and developing treatment plans for patients.
  • Working cooperatively to identify and solve patient-specific and facility-wide needs.
  • Participating in discharge planning, including patient/family education and adaptive equipment placement.
  • Supervising Physical Therapy Assistants and PT and PTA students.
  • Conducting individual patient therapy regimens.
  • Maintaining a patient's response to treatment during sessions, making necessary modifications.
  • Completing appropriate documentation in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Attending departmental, hospital, and community continuing education seminars and in-services.

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
  • Certified BLS or completion of BLS training within the first 90 days of employment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Passing scores on the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE).

Skills

  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of physical therapy techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Pay

$33.00 - $51.00 per hour, based on years of experience.

Schedule

Full-Time, Monday - Friday, no weekends or holidays.
