Position Summary
Position Accountabilities
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Plans physical therapy program for each patient including exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity.
- Applies diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint, and functional abilities tests.
- Directs and aids patient in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, and functional training using pulleys, weights, steps, and inclined surfaces.
- Consults with other members of rehabilitation team to select activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of individual and to coordinate Physical Therapy with other therapeutic activities.
- Provides supervision for PTA.
- Provides instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient.
- Counsels with other members of the rehabilitation team to select activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of individual and to coordinate Physical Therapy with other therapeutic activities.
- Conducts or participates in training medical and nursing personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives.
- Adapts conventional physical therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal.
- Evaluates, records, and reports on patient's progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team.
- Completes charting requirements in a timely manner.
- Considers specific patient variables such as motivation, stamina, etc. in planning treatment programs.
- Maintains active and support communication with the patient regarding progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related to the therapeutic process.
- Provides direct physical therapy to patients on a daily basis.
- Follows policies and procedures regarding attendance and work hours.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
