Job Description
Serve as the embedded, independent Doctor of Physical Therapy and the subject-matter expert for musculoskeletal injury management, injury prevention, and performance enhancement in support of personnel readiness.
Conduct examinations, evaluations, diagnoses, prognoses, interventions, and outcome assessments within your scope of practice; complete an in-processing assessment for all newly assigned personnel.
Independently manage complex neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions using neuromuscular control, corrective and postural exercises, and self-corrective movement strategies.
Provide primary injury-prevention services for acute and duty-limiting conditions, including physical-capacity and new-member assessments, health education, and nutrition advising.
Develop Individual Training Plans after initial assessment, with feedback sessions and modifications to ensure a safe and expeditious return to training.
Advise unit commanders on injury prevention and rehabilitation; develop protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the PT program.
Advise leadership on supplies, equipment purchases, and fiscal requests tied to interventions; ensure safe, effective operation of patient-care equipment.
Maintain patient-care records in accordance with DHA-PM 6025.02, Vol. 1, using mandated Government electronic systems and databases.
Attend staff meetings to review and improve physical-training programs; engage in operator-specific training when approved by the COR.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
- Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Physical Therapist in collegiate (or higher), professional, or tactical athletics; the aerospace industry; test pilot/astronaut support; or a similar man-machine, high-performance environment.
- Licensure & certification: Current, unrestricted Physical Therapist license, plus current basic CPR certification including Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- Security Investigation: All work is performed at the unclassified level. A favorable Tier 1 security investigation is required.
