About the role

Kauai Care Center is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility located on the west side of Kauai, Hawaii. The Physical Therapist plays a crucial role in supporting recovery and enhancing patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, organize, and administer physical therapy services according to current standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and records management.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, and medical providers to develop personalized recovery plans.
  • Provide periodic training and guidance to Occupational/Physical Therapist Assistants.
  • Develop realistic and documented treatment goals that align with the referring medical staff.
  • Prepare written treatment programs based on evaluations of the patient.
  • Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain patient function.
  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing various physical activities and using assistive devices.
  • Apply knowledge of mobilization techniques and body physiology to record treatment, response, and progress.
  • Provide patient and family education on treatment procedures.
  • Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices as needed and coordinate treatment with other healthcare professionals.
  • Contact referring physicians regarding patient care concerns as required.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution or a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from a CAPTE-accredited program.
  • Prior to employment, possess a current, unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist in the state where employed.
