Job Summary

About the role
You will interact with amazing students every day, ensuring the quality of Physical Therapy designed programs by supporting teaching staff in carrying out and incorporating therapeutic activities. You will drive communication with teachers and appropriate staff on the progress and needs of individual students by working in coordination and cooperation with the student, family, LEA, Educational team, Behavioral and Nursing teams.
Responsibilities
- Conducts assessments
- Writes goals and objectives
- Trains direct service teachers
- Provides ongoing consultation to the teaching staff in their work with the students
- Communicates with teachers and appropriate staff on the progress and needs of individual students
- Provides teachers consultation regarding physical therapy profiles and appropriate short and long term objectives within the individualized education plans (IEP) when appropriate
- Provides in-services to classroom staff
- Provides teacher with instructions and support necessary for them to carry out daily physical therapy programs with all children (STO’s, Rehabilitative Guidelines)
- Observes classrooms on a regular basis providing brief correction/positive feedback and suggestions to the teachers as needed
- Consults to classroom staff regarding students' PT needs
- Provides direct service when deemed necessary
- Performs related physical therapy services as assigned
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved program in physical therapy
- Valid and current license as an PT in Massachusetts
- Demonstrated commitment to student progress
- Ability to multi-task and take initiative of multi-tasking
- Finds enjoyment working with a multi-disciplinary team
