Job Overview
The Physical Therapist I provides physical therapy services including evaluation, treatment, and follow-up, and documentation using general competencies for inpatient and outpatient children referred to the physical therapy department. They supervise PT aides/assistants and students with specific tasks and/or patients, provide continuous consultation and education to families, and participate in a Career Advancement Program (CAP).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools, and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services.
- Provides consultation and education to other professionals and families as necessary.
- Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location, and time frames.
- Independently evaluates patients with a variety of diagnoses, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units.
- Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
- Aids in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
- Demonstrates leadership and participates in systematic, planned professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the department and hospital.
- Provides consultation and education to families.
- Treats children across the continuum, with a variety of diagnoses, in specialized programs on inpatient and outpatient units and in the community.
- Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
- Seeks out appropriate mentoring/training and consults with relative Program Coordinator and/or assigned mentor for complex patient diagnoses.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in PT required. Doctorate in PT preferred.
- Experience Required: None. Two to three years of experience as a PT preferred. Experience or interest in pelvic health – training provided on site.
- Licenses & Certifications: Basic Life Support Physical Therapist. Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment.

- Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $78,659.24 to $117,988.86.
