Physical Therapist Assistant (Licensed PTA)
About the Role
As the Physical Therapist Assistant at Huntsville Hospital HomeCare, a part of LHC Group and the Optum family of businesses, you will perform treatment and provide exercise instruction and patient education aimed at improving or enhancing the patient's well-being while following the established plan of care. Responsibilities
- Follow all state-specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care, adhering to the treatment plan defined by the supervising Physical Therapist (PT).
- Perform only those procedures for which you are qualified and trained, and recommend changes in the plan of care to the supervising PT.
- Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, ADL (Activities of Daily Living), transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
- Observe, record, and report the patient's response to treatment and changes in condition to the supervising PT, nurse supervisor, and/or physician.
- Coordinate care with other members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
- Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members in therapy techniques within the scope of the physical therapy assistant.
- Function effectively in any home environment, regardless of the patient's age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition.
Requirements
- Current, valid license, registration, or certification to assist in the practice of physical therapy in the state of practice.
- Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or reliable public transportation.
- Available to work a weekend rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current CPR certification or ability to complete within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.
Pay
Annual total cash target pay: $58,241 - $87,361.
- Per visit point rate: $28.00 - $42.00 (paid based on productivity points accrued for various types of visits).
- Hourly rate: $33.60 - $50.40 (paid for non-visit activities such as orientation).
Total cash compensation assumes full-time employment (40 weekly hours) at full productivity and is based on factors including local labor markets, education, and work experience. Compensation may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role.
