About the role

The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant at Regency Hermiston is responsible for direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. This position involves instructing and aiding patients in various therapeutic activities, reporting patient progress, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait training, functional, ADL, transfer, and safety training.
  • Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment and changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist, nurse, and physician.
  • Instruct patients, family, caregivers, and other members of the health care team on areas of therapy they can participate in to assist the patient.
  • Visit patients according to the Plan of Treatment and document daily notes.
  • Develop and update the Plan of Treatment as needed with input from the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Adhere to Therapy Standards of Practice and report any issues related to patient progress, complications, or treatment response to the Physical Therapist.
  • Aid the Physical Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatments to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Requirements

  • Completed degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution.
  • Possession of a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the assigned state.
  • Ability to follow directions from registered therapists and other team members to promote patient treatment and safety.
  • Ability to work independently with occasional support and direction.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of physical therapy techniques and patient care protocols.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
