Physical Therapist Assistant

Responsibilities

• Implements the individualized plan of care as established by the physical therapist.
• Affords assistance to the physical therapist in managing the established discharge plan throughout treatment.
• Completes legible, accurate, and clear documentation within the established timeframe identified in the department policy and procedure and in accordance with accreditation requirements and insurance regulations.
• Communicates with the patient, family, caregivers, significant others, and members of the health care team to promote maximum benefit of care.
• Identifies educational needs of the patient, family, caregiver, or significant other and provides education to meet those needs.
• Participates actively in quality improvement activities.
• Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Complies with appropriate and approved safety standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapist assistant program.
• Current state Board of Physical Therapist Assistant licensure.
• BLS certification.

Qualifications

• One year of physical therapist assistant experience is preferred.

Skills

• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of patient care protocols and safety standards.
