Physical Support Staff

Daily Responsibilities

• Respond to situations that may include physical aggression by providing physical support utilizing crisis procedures identified by Board Certified Behavior Analysts and developed by the Marcus Crisis Prevention Program
• Maintain hypervigilance during the school day in order to provide redirection and other behavioral interventions to individuals in crisis
• Respond to noncrisis scenarios throughout the school day
• To assist students with daily activities such as toileting and additional hygiene routines
• Demonstrate and perform as an effective adult role model for the students we support
• Aid in creating a physical environment that lends to progress
• Participate in mandatory trainings and refreshers
• Provide support to all classrooms when necessary
• Help maintain a clean and orderly work environment by assisting in cleaning and organizing protective equipment (mats, wedges, helmets, etc.)

Job Requirements

• A minimum of a high school diploma
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
• BCI & FBI background check
• Reliable Transportation
• Ability to work full-time in alignment with our school calendar
• Obtain and maintain Marcus Crisis Prevention Program certification (completed once hired)

Physical Demands

• Ability to participate in physical interventions, when necessary, and with fidelity to the methods taught through our training model
• Physical interventions may require intense physical exertion
• Physical requirements include, but are not limited to: kneeling, possibly for extended periods of time on hard surfaces, bending, twisting, and holding
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. regularly
• Risk of exposure to bodily fluids
