About the role
Physical Security Engineers at AWS work to design safe, secure, resilient, cost-effective Data Center (DC) facilities. You will lead security designs for DC projects, collaborate with other security organizations within AWS, and manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for DC projects.
- Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk and benefits of designs, and facilitate design discussions.
- Communicate conceptual designs to internal stakeholders and external consultants.
- Create security design scope of work for DC project RFPs.
- Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants.
- Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
- Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 20%.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related technical field
- 7+ years of physical security engineering experience in industrial or commercial facilities
- 2+ years of physical security engineering experience in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation, or oil and gas generation
- Experience carrying physical security design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
Preferred Qualifications
- ASIS Physical Security Professional Certification (PSP) certification
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certification
- Experience in construction administration and commissioning
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
