Physical Security Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering

About the role

Physical Security Engineers at AWS work to design safe, secure, resilient, cost-effective Data Center (DC) facilities. You will lead security designs for DC projects, collaborate with other security organizations within AWS, and participate in the maintenance of basis of design (BOD) documents.

Responsibilities

• Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for DC projects.
• Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk and benefits of designs, and facilitate design discussions.
• Communicate conceptual designs to internal stakeholders and external consultants.
• Create security design scope of work for DC project RFPs.
• Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants.
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related technical field
• 7+ years of physical security engineering experience in industrial or commercial facilities
• 2+ years of physical security engineering experience in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation, or oil and gas generation
• Experience carrying physical security design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of physical security principles and how that relates to practical application and real-world implementation of processes and measures
• Working knowledge of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED)

• ASIS Physical Security Professional Certification (PSP) certification
• Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certification

Pay

Base salary range for this position is $116,800.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually.

Schedule

Anticipated travel not to exceed 20%.
