Physical Security Design Technical Project Manager (US-Based)
Overview
The Physical Security Design TPM serves as the bridge between security design engineering, project delivery, and client stakeholders. This role owns the end-to-end coordination of physical security design efforts, including scope definition, design reviews, documentation governance, schedule management, and issue resolution.
Responsibilities
- Lead physical security design projects from concept through issued-for-construction (IFC) deliverables, ensuring alignment with client requirements, standards, and operational needs.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal teams for physical security design scope and decisions.
- Manage design schedules, milestones, dependencies, and risks across multiple concurrent security projects.
- Provide technical oversight and review of design deliverables, including drawings, specifications, narratives, OPRs, and bills of materials, to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards.
- Cook up and facilitate design reviews, stakeholder working sessions, and issue resolution meetings.
- Translate client requirements into clear design direction for engineers, integrators, and drafting teams.
- Ensure security system designs are scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective, incorporating lessons learned and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with construction managers, system integrators, IT teams, and facilities stakeholders to support successful downstream implementation.
- Track and manage design changes, RFIs, and design-related risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stay current on physical security technologies, low-voltage systems standards, and industry trends to inform design decisions and client recommendations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in physical security system design for large facilities such as data centers.
- Proficiency in designing electronic access control systems, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
- Strong understanding of security principles, risk management, and mitigation strategies.
- Familiarity with large security systems commonly used by leading technology companies.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with AutoCAD design preferred.
- Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams preferred.
Pay
