Physical Plant Service Worker I-Support Activities & Moves
Job Summary
The Physical Plant Service Worker I performs various manual tasks necessary to complete work order assignments for the Physical Plant.
Core Responsibilities
- Completes assigned work with supervision from the crew leader.
- Works as a team member to load, unload, and move furniture and equipment at different locations including file cabinets, supplies, and mail among university buildings; sets up and tears down all necessary furniture for special functions.
- Drives trucks and operates power equipment on trucks and transports equipment to be salvaged.
- Performs custodial duties and basic painting and construction work.
- Promotes safety and environmental protection by immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents; following University safety plans/procedures/protocols; and participating in appropriate safety training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or Apprenticeship in a related field.
- One (1) year of related work experience.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Working Conditions
- Conditions may vary according to the type and place where work is being performed. Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions. Occasional overtime duty required on nights, weekends, and holidays in connection with athletic events and special programs.
Physical Demands
- Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects with or without accommodation.
Job Details
This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
