Physical Modeler
About the role
The Physical Modeler position at Ford involves developing physical models and utilizing Design Thinking & User Experience methods to deliver innovative products and services that delight customers. This role requires a combination of technical skills and creativity, working closely with Studio Design teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of prototypes.
Responsibilities
- Develop physical models and select the best tools and techniques to achieve the most accurate execution within project constraints.
- Be an integral member of Studio Design teams, contributing to the creation of advanced prototypes.
- Deliver finished physical models to specifications using all available tools, from sketches to engineering data.
- Set up armatures, processes, and procedures to efficiently produce high-quality prototypes.
- Operate all equipment safely and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements
- Aptitude and competency in understanding surface development and procedures in physical modeling techniques.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, embracing the creative process and adjusting design direction as necessary.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience in automotive physical modeling.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in software such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Awareness of modeling software such as Alias.
- Experience in concept and production model builds.
- College degree in a related field.
- Completion of a Physical / Clay Modeling Certificate Program.

Pay and Schedule
This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $109,100-$182,800. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility, and competitive market value.
Schedule
The position is hybrid, with candidates in commuting distance to a Ford hub location potentially required to be onsite four or more days per week.
