Physical Health Medical Director

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

This role will support clinical priorities focused on quality, patient-centered outcomes, and effective care delivery. You will collaborate with clinical leaders, operational teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve standards, workflows, and execution. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen care quality, team performance, and measurable outcomes within a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Authorize requested services and levels of care based on medical judgment
• Learn and operationalize Medicaid requirements daily
• Review clinical scenarios and prioritize work using computer systems
• Engage with external physicians for additional clinical information
• Support regional market priorities through communication with healthcare providers
• Promote Humana's values and support enterprise social objectives
• Provide vacation and holiday coverage duration as needed

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy
• Board-certified in ABMS or ABPN recognized specialty
• Current, unrestricted medical license in at least one state in the cluster
• At least five years post-training clinical experience
• Experienced in utilization management and case management within a health plan
• No current governmental sanctions and capable of passing credentialing
• Experience working with Medicaid enrollees and related stakeholders

Pay

$223,800 – $313,100 annually
