The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks an educator to join the Physical Education Department for the 2026-2027 school year. We are seeking an eager, creative, and flexible faculty member to work with students in grades K-12. This is an exempt, full time, 10 month position for the 2026-2027 school year with the potential for permanent placement. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to): Teach physical education across all three divisions: Lower, Middle and Upper SchoolsImplement a skill based curriculum that prompts an active and healthy lifestyle amongst studentsCo-teach Lower school classes focusing on areas including but not limited to foundational locomotive movements, fitness, sport specific skills, team concepts and small gamesDevelop creative and innovative Middle School and Upper School classes with a focus on life long skills Design engaging and relevant student-centered lessonsCollaborate with other faculty to infuse interdisciplinary strategiesParticipate actively in school life; assemblies, advisory, clubs, faculty meetings, professional development, and other community eventsMust instill an enthusiasm for movement and fitness in studentsCoach a minimum of two seasons of Middle or Upper School athletics Perform other school duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in physical education and health education3+ years experience teaching physical in a K-12 settingPossess excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, the ability to be flexible, and a passion for working with childrenVarsity level coaching experienceCPR and first aid certificationExperience engaging with and adapting to diverse learnersExperience designing and implementing developmentally-appropriate and varied activities PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL CHARACTERISTICS A shared understanding of the mission of the School and a demonstrated commitment to the core principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion Must demonstrate cultural competence and be able to understand, appreciate, and work with constituents across varied backgrounds and culturesHigh professional and ethical standards for teaching in an educational settingExceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with all levels of constituentsSuperb oral and written communication skillsHigh level of initiative, proven ability to work independently and collaboratively Possesses a sense of humor and appreciates this trait in others SALARY In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000.
