About the role

The Watson Institute is hiring a full-time Physical Education Teacher to support the WISCA school program across locations in Sewickley, Sharpsburg, and Bridgeville, PA for the 2026-2027 school year. This position follows the school calendar and works Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate mastery of Physical Education, Health, and Wellness content, including relevant national and state standards
  • Travel to each WISCA location to conduct lessons per designated schedule
  • Conduct physical education lessons that promote movement and wellness for K-12+ students
  • Conduct health and wellness lessons for K-12+ students
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to regularly evaluate and report on student progress to parents
  • Provide differentiated instruction to promote positive student outcomes
  • Demonstrate planning, preparation, and instructional strategies
  • Implement strategies for motivating and managing students (e.g., Student Behavior Management System)
  • Use a range of instructional approaches and alternative assessment methods for diverse learners
  • Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills for a multifaceted program
  • Provide safety instruction and ensure gym equipment and areas are safe
  • Complete required paperwork
  • Cover in classrooms as needed and assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Site Supervisor/Program Director

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Pennsylvania Certification in Health and Physical Education required (adaptive PE certificate preferred)
  • Related work experience in the field required
  • Special education experience preferred
  • Ability to supervise students during emergency drills, play periods, and community-based instruction, including running with children and assisting with lifting students
  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, including bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and brisk walking
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects and materials up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to use Comprehensive Crisis Management and Ukeru strategies to physically support students for safety
  • Current Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances required
  • Pre-employment medical examination, including a tuberculosis test, required

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., following the school calendar.
