  • Demonstrate Effective Collaboration and Engagement with students and colleagues

Specials Teacher Responsibilities

  • Design and Implement Comprehensive Program
  • Lead Positive Action SEL Curriculum/Program
  • Create Curriculum Based on Colorado State Standards for STEM
  • Manage Student Technology Inventory and Systems
  • Manage Student Login Credentials for Various Programs
  • Instruct Children on Playing Instruments and Singing
  • Teach Basic Music Theory
  • Teach Basic Art History, Principles, and Techniques
  • Teach Students How to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle While Engaging in Physical Fitness
  • Empower Students to Be Critical Thinkers, Enthusiastic Readers, Skillful Researchers, and Ethical Users of Information
  • Collaborate with Department Peers, Homeroom Teachers, and School Families
  • Provide Rigorous and Supportive Education for Every Student
  • Teach and Reinforce School-Wide Systems, Rules, Consequences, and Rewards
  • Co-Plan Themes and Concepts in Units with Team
  • Support Students Through Community Events
  • Set Tone with Students Each Day and Set Up Community Expectations
  • Build Positive Relationships with Students and Hold Them to High Expectations
  • Manage Classes with Positive Proactive Systems and Strong Rituals and Routines
  • Seek More Information and Support from Other Staff Members if Needed
  • Set Up Class Website and/or Collaborate on Department Newsletter
  • Engage Parents as Volunteers for Class Events/Performances, Build Relationships with Families
  • Help Plan and Lead Pre-Planned Events for Families
  • Attend All Professional Development as Assigned by Principal

Qualifications

  • Valid Teaching Credential Appropriate to Teaching Assignment
  • Teaching Experience Appropriate to Assignment
  • Demonstrated Commitment to and Understanding of Highline Mission
  • All Teachers Highly Qualified per No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Specifications
  • Strong Communication and Collaboration Skills
