Physical Education/Health Teacher

New Haven Public Schools seeks a Teacher- Physical Education & Health (9-12) to join our dedicated team. The position offers a range of professional development opportunities, including curriculum facilitator, teacher facilitator, and participation in the Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement physical education and health curricula aligned with state standards.
• Provide instruction that promotes physical fitness, health awareness, and safety.
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement interdisciplinary projects.
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills.

Requirements

• Physical Education certification required.
• Health certification preferred.
• Maintain certification as per Connecticut State Statutes.

Qualifications

• Experience in teaching physical education and health at the high school level.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices.

Pay

The salary for the 26-27 school year ranges from $53,220 to $108,047, contingent upon degree and years of experience.
