About the role
This position is responsible for the design of deliverables associated with a high voltage substation, which may include general arrangement, section views, grounding, conduit layouts, bills of materials, and cable schedules, as well as construction turnover documentation.
Responsibilities
- Complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy
- Have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and the ability to convey technical knowledge in simple and practical language
- Work under the direction of Senior Engineers and Project Engineers
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements
- Define project objectives, prepare design estimates, and define project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects
- Determine design approach and work with design team to prepare required design documents (e.g., drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.)
- Conceptualize the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or have overall responsibility for the engineering work on a routine project
- Perform technical and coordination checking of deliverables and other project documents to ensure they comply with IEEE and/or client standards and meet applicable design requirements
Requirements
- Must be able to complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy

- Experience in designing substation-related deliverables
- Ability to work independently and as part of a design team
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices relevant to the project requirements
- Experience defining project objectives, preparing design estimates, and defining project requirements and design approaches for large or complex projects
- Experience conceptualizing the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or having overall responsibility for the engineering work on a routine project
- Experience performing technical and coordination checking of deliverables and other project documents to ensure compliance with IEEE and/or client standards and meeting applicable design requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar engineering software
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices
