About the Role
This position serves as the Fiscal Director for the Prevention and Health Promotion Administration (PHPA) within the Maryland Department of Health's Infectious Disease and Environmental Health Services.
Responsibilities
- Directs and manages all fiscal operations for PHPA, including budgeting, accounting, procurement, and contract management
- Oversees the development and execution of the agency's operating budget, including federal grant funding and state general funds
- Provides fiscal guidance and analysis to senior leadership and program managers
- Supervises fiscal staff and ensures compliance with state and federal financial regulations
- Reviews and approves financial reports, invoices, and procurement actions
- Coordinates with central budget and finance offices on fiscal matters
- Develops and implements fiscal policies and procedures to improve efficiency and internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
- Six years of professional experience in fiscal management, budgeting, accounting, or financial administration, including at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity
- Experience with government budgeting and accounting principles, including knowledge of fund accounting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with financial management software and spreadsheet applications
Pay
$93,138.00 – $120,491.00 per year, with potential growth to $146,883.00 per year.
