About the role
TelevisaUnivision is seeking a dedicated, creative, and passionate Photographer to join our news team. You will play an essential role in bringing stories to life by capturing compelling visuals for our news programming across live and taped events. As part of a fast-paced and collaborative team, you will work closely with reporters, producers, and other newsroom partners to deliver high-quality visual storytelling.
Responsibilities
- Shoot and edit daily news stories, breaking news, special reports, and stories as assigned, with or without a reporter, using non-linear, computer-based editing equipment.
- Set up, test, and operate equipment for live and recorded broadcasts, including LiveU and other mobile transmission technology.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in the field and communicate equipment or transmission concerns to the appropriate team.
- Edit materials to match scripts prepared by reporters, producers, or associate producers using on-location facilities or any other required location.
- Work with reporters to develop complete stories and make suggestions on how a story should be produced.
- Drive, operate, and handle all necessary equipment and/or other gear used in live transmissions.
- Keep assigned equipment and/or vehicle in good working condition and file all required paperwork as deadlines require.
- Work various shifts, times, and during inclement weather.
- Upload video, digital pictures, and copy to the station’s website and social media as required.
- Perform routine maintenance and light troubleshooting on equipment.
- Assist with news production and assignment desk as assigned.
- Follow all station and company safety policies and procedures, particularly when operating vehicles, working around live events, or covering hazardous weather and breaking news.
- Use sound judgment and editorial awareness when covering sensitive, fast-moving, or high-profile news events.
- Manage, organize, and archive video and other digital media according to newsroom and company standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- College degree or equivalent work experience in Broadcast Communications.
- At least 2 years of experience in camera operation and editing.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills, both written and oral.
- Knowledge of editing software such as Avid Media Composer.
- Familiarity with I-news rundown.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, as driving a news vehicle daily is an essential part of the role.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment up to 45 pounds, bend, and set up equipment for remotes to allow transmission of pictures or live reports.
- Ability to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
