About the role
The Photographic Squad handles work of ordinary technical difficulty and responsibility in the vast field of still photography.
Responsibilities
- Perform digital photography by utilizing a camera and computer
- Photograph official events
- Take and process portraits
- Mugshot photography and process prints in color lab
Minimum Qualifications
- Three years of full-time paid satisfactory experience acquired within the last ten years as a professional photographer; or
- An associate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 12 credits in photography, and two years of full-time paid satisfactory experience as a professional photographer; or
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 24 credits in photography, and one year of full-time paid satisfactory experience as a professional photographer
Note: Experience in film and camera sales is not acceptable. Experience as an amateur photographer such as that acquired in a hobby or leisure time activity is not acceptable.
Preferred Skills
- Must have a driver's license
- Proficient on Mac or PC computer
- Skilled in Photoshop
- Experience in photography

Schedules: 1600×2400 hrs or 0800×1600 hrs
Pay
$48,621.00 – $67,280.00
Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
