Phone Operator - Summit Medical Group at Farragut

About the role

Summit Medical Group at Farragut is seeking a Phone Operator to answer incoming calls in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. This is a full-time opportunity, Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Learn check-in and check-out positions
• Work reschedules for certain providers
• Direct all calls to appropriate areas/extensions
• Record messages with accuracy and conciseness while prompting patients and other callers for pertinent information
• Schedule patient appointments using established procedures
• Communicate general clinic information when appropriate
• Respond to emergency calls according to established procedure and sound judgment
• Use paging system according to procedure
• Communicate telephone system inefficiencies or repair needs
• Update telephone directory and maintain accurate listing of all extensions
• Assist with other general office functions, such as mail processing, as requested
• Attend meetings as required
• Maintain strictest confidentiality both internally and externally
• Perform related work as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience answering phones and scheduling appointments in a medical office/clinic setting
• Working knowledge of medical terminology
• Computer skills, including MS Office, Outlook, and EHR systems
• Ability to work effectively with physicians, patients, staff, and the public
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must pass pre-employment drug testing
