Phlebotomy Technician I/ Day shift

About the role

Under the supervision of Manager, Preanalytical Laboratory Services and Phlebotomy Supervisors, performs all duties of Phlebotomist responsibilities including routine blood collection on all age groups to include neonates and infants. In addition, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to function in Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Laboratory. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients’ in assigned area.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine blood collection on patients of all age groups, including neonates and infants.
• Function in the Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Laboratory.
• Provide age‑appropriate patient care in the assigned area.

Requirements

• Graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy or three (3) months of experience.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate.
• Must undergo background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse (https://info.flclearinghouse.com/) as part of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System’s employment screening.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License.

Skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant computer skills for patient ID system and specimen processing functions.
• Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with patients, staff, and other healthcare providers.
