About the role
Obtains blood specimens from patients and delivers specimens to the laboratory and/or sends through the transport system.
Responsibilities
- Correctly identifies patients and specimens.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or GED required. MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (i.e. ASCP or AMT) preferred. Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of biology and 6 semester hours of chemistry preferred.
- Experience: Previous work experience strongly preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information.
- Absolute integrity and accuracy in the patient identification process.
- Complete HeartSaver CPR by the end of the orientation period.
