About the role
The Phlebotomy Supervisor position is located in North Syracuse, NY, with a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Salary range is $54,700 - $98,400 per year, with salary offers based on various factors including experience, education, and certifications.
Responsibilities
- Oversee functions of Patient Services including Mobile Phlebotomy, In-Office Phlebotomy, and Patient Service Centers.
- Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for phlebotomy services in accordance with Quest Diagnostics guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local licensure requirements, working with QA and Medical Director's offices.
- Ensure completeness and review of Laboratory testing Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) documentation.
- Oversee safety, maintenance, and cleanliness of facilities, including upgrades and repairs.
- Perform site visits at assigned PSCs, IOPs, and mobile phlebotomy sites, documenting findings and performing QA audits.
- Relocate/open/close PSCs, IOPs, and RRLs; oversee inventory processes.
- Participate in the interview, selection, and hiring of new employees; conduct training, coaching, supervision, and development of staff.
- Maintain performance standards for employees; provide corrective action and counseling as needed.
- Prepare monthly reports; monitor time/attendance of employees; prepare schedules with minimal overtime.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints; assist in preparing annual budgets and implementing improvement initiatives.
- Participate in process improvement teams and other initiatives to meet management objectives.
- Organize and lead projects both within the workgroup and with cross-functional groups; give presentations and speak in groups.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years prior supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership experience.
- Minimum five years' experience in phlebotomy, laboratory, or other healthcare environments.
- Preferred: Customer service experience in a retail or service environment.
- Physical and mental requirements: Extensive use of phone and PC, prolonged standing/sitting, fine dexterity with hands/steadiness, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds for several minutes at a time.
- Knowledge: Ability to effectively communicate in English; proficiency in PC skills including MS Office applications; ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise sound judgment.
- Skills: Flexibility, availability based on staffing requirements, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime; valid driver's license and clean driving record; good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Licenses and Certifications: Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states).
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, or related field (preferred); High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
