About the role

At Chippenham Hospital, you come first. HCA Healthcare has committed up to $300 million in programs to support our team members over the course of three years. As a Phlebotomy Supervisor, you will direct daily operations, demonstrate technical expertise, and contribute to staff development and employee relations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily operations, including decision-making, problem-solving, and corrective actions.
  • Perform employee performance appraisals and provide staff development.
  • Ensure proper resource allocation, coordination, and maximum efficiency in personnel use.
  • Control departmental supply expenses and encourage innovation and creativity.
  • Respond to changes in clinical laboratory medicine and motivate staff to challenge traditional methods.
  • Manage daily workload and maintain a productive atmosphere.
  • Oversee specialty areas in compliance with general laboratory standards.
  • Develop, write, review, and implement procedures and policies.
  • Prepare the laboratory for inspections and generate reports as needed.
  • Maintain communication with laboratory leadership, pathologists, team members, and customers.
  • Address patient/client expectations and ensure satisfaction.
  • Support Hospital and Laboratory administrative and management teams.
  • Demonstrate effective supervisory skills and proficiency in laboratory computer tasks.
  • Provide training to employees as necessary.
  • Understand and participate in the laboratory QA plan, safety policies, emergency preparedness, and infection control plans.
  • Adhere to the laboratory billing compliance plan and attend annual training.
  • Understand and respect patient security and confidentiality standards.
  • Initiate and document patient teaching, including family and significant others.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and assess data appropriate to patient age groups served.

Requirements

  • Required: 2 years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Preferred: 2 years of phlebotomy experience with 2 years of supervisory or team leader experience.
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; ASPT eligible.
  • Preferred: ASPT certified; Associate Degree in a related science.
