Phlebotomy Instructor

About the role

The Phlebotomy Educator at the Center for Clinical Research Education (CCRE) within the Office of Clinical Research (OCR) at Mass General Brigham (MGB) is responsible for teaching and training students in the skills, knowledge, and professional standards required for safe and effective phlebotomy practice for research.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver engaging lectures and demonstrate safe phlebotomy techniques for research.
• Instruct students in venipuncture, specimen collection, infection control, and laboratory safety protocols in accordance with institutional policies and guidelines.
• Supervise and evaluate students’ practical skills in simulated settings.
• Promote professionalism, ethical practice, and patient-centered care in all aspects of instruction.

Requirements

• Experience in phlebotomy 3-5 years required and Experience training individuals on phlebotomy procedures 1-2 years preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Have successfully performed blood draws in the past 30 days.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of and demonstrated skill in phlebotomy techniques, infection control, and laboratory and clinical safety.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of learners.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Faculty-led consultation services and the project management support service core advise and provide logistical support to clinical research teams. The Center for Clinical Research Education (CCRE) in the Office of Clinical Research (OCR) at Mass General Brigham (MGB) offers over 200 live and online courses annually with approximately 6,000+ participants. The CCRE is a well-regarded asset to MGB’s clinical and translational research community.

Pay

The base pay for this role ranges from $27.95 to $40.70 hourly, depending on experience and qualifications. Comprehensive benefits, career advancement opportunities, differentials, premiums, and bonuses are also available.
