About the role
Phlebotomist role near Grand Rapids, MI with a consistent Monday & Friday schedule. Hands-on patient care in a supportive hospital environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures using proper techniques
- Accurately identify patients prior to specimen collection
- Ensure specimens are labeled correctly and meet testing requirements
- Provide appropriate post-phlebotomy care to patients
- Process, handle, and transport specimens according to protocol
- Assist with pre-testing duties as defined by department policies
- Maintain phlebotomy supply inventory and restock as needed
- Follow all safety procedures, including infection control and specimen handling
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, nurses, and providers
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing training
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior phlebotomy or healthcare experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology helpful but not required
- Phlebotomy training or certification beneficial but not required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and patient interaction skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
