Phlebotomist PRN

Job Summary

The Phlebotomist performs blood draws on patients who need diagnostic testing. The Phlebotomist is supervised by and works with the RNs to achieve timely pre-procedure blood draws and testing.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of physiology and function of the venous system of the human body, and collection techniques used to draw blood from patients.
• Collects blood samples from patients per laboratory policy and procedure.
• Decides the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.
• Patient identification.
• Labels blood vials according to established procedures including use of automated patient identification systems.
