Job Summary and Qualifications

The position involves performing venous and capillary collection procedures, monitoring computer/labels/computer reports, collecting insurance information, answering patient inquiries, distributing lab reports, pulling collection pending lists, ordering tests, cleaning glassware, monitoring temperatures, and providing clerical support.

• Identifies cultural differences and incorporates into care.
• Utilizes translation services when indicated.
• Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the hospital’s long-range plan, mission, vision, and values.
• Participates in performance improvement activities to ensure continuous quality improvement.
• Promotes a supportive environment that encourages collegiality.
• Is educated on protocols specific for Neonate/Infant (0-12 months), Pediatrics (1 – 17 years), Adults (18 – 79 years), and the Elderly (80+ years).

Position Qualification

• On the job training or previous experience.
• Able to collect samples from every age group with skill.
• Able to perform work requiring prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
• Current BLS certification.
