Phlebotomist - PRN

JOB SUMMARY

This employee is responsible for specimen collection, application of phlebotomy techniques, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, this position involves secretarial duties such as lab report distribution, filing, supply ordering, drug screen account handling, and patient registration.

WORK HOURS

• Routine 8 or 12 hour schedule
• At least 1 weekend per month
• Equal share of holidays
• Occasional rotation to other shifts
• Shift hours may be adjusted based on patient volume

EDUCATION

• High school diploma
• Current certification for DOT Drug Screen Collections may be required
• Current certification for EBT may be required

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Phlebotomy and Medical Office experience or training required

JOB KNOWLEDGE

• Phlebotomy experience a plus
• Experience with drug screens with COC may be required
• Experience with EKGs may be required
• Experience with Breath Alcohol Testing may be required

PHLEBOTOMY TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ordering lab tests in LIS
• Performing venipuncture on patients
• Appropriate documentation where required
• Reviewing OP charts
• Verifying medical necessity, calling physicians offices, and getting ABN's signed
• Performing drug screens with COC
• Possibly performing EKGs
• Possibly performing Breath Alcohol Testing
• Packaging lab tests for Reference Lab
• Packaging drug screens for Reference Lab
• Using AIDET and customer service skills
