Phlebotomist PRN

Job Summary

The employee will be responsible for implementing established standard operating procedures to perform quality venipuncture, capillary sticks, skin tests, Glucose Tolerance tests and urine collections. Assists the health care team in accurate, safe, and reliable collection and transportation of specimens for laboratory analysis.

Qualifications

• Performs invasive and non-invasive procedures for the procurement of blood and body fluids for laboratory testing.
• Greets and determines needs of patients or visitors immediately upon arrival to the Laboratory Department.
• Assists in the training of new employees.
• Accurately labels and delivers specimens to correct department.
• Schedules laboratory tests and gives instructions to outpatients on specimen collection.
• Uses telephone system efficiently and courteously to all customers.
• Collates and completes lab test orders per federal regulations for filing in Health Information Management.

Skills

• Uses computer data entry skills to ensure accurate and quality reporting of patient results.
• Utilizes laboratory computer system, and handheld phlebotomy devices.
• Performs therapeutic phlebotomies.
