Phlebotomist PRN

About the Role

Join Centerpoint Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, as a PRN Phlebotomist. You will perform blood sample and specimen collections efficiently while adhering to hospital and department standards. Under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, you may also handle routine technical functions, CLIA waived analyses, and quality control to contribute to a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens using finger sticks, heel sticks, or venipunctures, and collect other required specimens.
• Accurately label specimens for identification and enter specimen data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.
• Assist with clerical duties, including answering telephone calls.
• Perform a minimum of 8-10 blood draws per hour.

Requirements

• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Graduate of a Phlebotomy Course required.
• If phlebotomy program has not been completed, one year of experience in a medical laboratory or college coursework in biological/chemical sciences is required.
• One year of experience preferred; hospital experience is a plus.
• Six months of computer keyboarding or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must have open availability for weekends for PRN shifts.
