About the role

The Phlebotomist/Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) performs tasks related to specimen procurement, processing, distribution, and results. They also perform phlebotomy and capillary puncture procedures on patients ranging from neonates through adults.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and capillary puncture procedures on patients ranging from neonates through adults.
• Processes and distributes specimens as required.
• Ensures accuracy and completeness of patient information.
• Collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure proper specimen collection and handling.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• Official HS Diploma and/or undergrad/grad transcript required for regulatory compliance.
• One year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• One year of lab and hospital experience highly recommended.
• Basic knowledge of phlebotomy, reagents, equipment, and equipment maintenance preferred.
• Ability to perform certain identified routine procedures at an acceptable level.
• Analytical ability to organize work, determine specimen requirements, and correctly identify patients.
• Interpersonal skills to explain phlebotomy procedures to patients.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when drawing and handling patient specimens.
