About the role
Obtain laboratory specimens for processing and perform other testing in a professional manner from hospital, clinic and nursing home patients to ensure quality results in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Collects and manages samples of blood and specimens from patients; ensures patient safety during the sample collection process.
Records and documents patient information accurately.
Follows all standard procedures and safety regulations; deploys asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures.
Communicates with patients, collecting their health information and answering their questions regarding phlebotomy procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required.
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred.
- May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
