About the role

The Phlebotomist/Lab Technician obtains and processes laboratory specimens to provide accurate measurement of patient status for healthcare provider evaluation. Additional responsibilities include basic lab duties as needed.

This is a full-time, in-person position scheduled Monday–Thursday 8:00 AM–6:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM–12:00 PM at our Community Clinic Primary & Specialty Care Clinic on Holly St.

Responsibilities

  • Collect all blood, urine, and throat swab specimens with assistance from licensed staff as needed.
  • Follow CLIA, OSHA, and Bloodborne Pathogens regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices.
  • Manage specimens and reports according to clinic policy.
  • Perform waived lab tests ordered by providers per clinic procedures or manufacturers’ instructions.
  • Assist with quality control, instrument maintenance, and applicable testing management.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment necessary for obtaining and processing laboratory specimens.
  • Sterilize instruments using proper techniques and procedures.
  • Maintain patient flow to ensure prompt service.
  • Adhere to regulations governed by OSHA, HIPAA/HITECH, CLIA, NCQA PCMH, Arkansas Department of Health radiology regulations, and other applicable standards.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational practices, mission, vision, policies, and professional ethics.
  • Uphold conditions, procedures, and decisions that are fair, safe, dignified, non-discriminatory, and confidential.
  • Protect the clinic’s IRS tax-exempt (501(c)(3)) status.
  • Travel for meetings, classes, workshops, and training, including overnight air travel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lab/Phlebotomy experience.
  • Healthcare field experience with knowledge of practice management systems, organizational structure, and patient flow.
