Responsibilities
- Performs basic assigned Laboratory tasks.
- Obtains specimens from the patient/donor to perform the testing required by the physician/client.
- Prepares the samples for testing/transport, tests samples and reports results/dispatch to the designated personnel/client.
- Maintains all certifications required by the laboratory and performs all duties while maintaining the Standards of the Laboratory, Corporation, Regulatory and Accrediting Agencies.
- Proves competent in the laboratory by passing all competency examinations required by the laboratory.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of an approved phlebotomy training program;
- One year of prior acceptable experience in laboratory technique, covering at least fifty percent of the clinical duties which will be required in the job;
- Nine semester hours in a Medical Laboratory program from an accredited college/university, or successful completion of a medical assistant program of at least 9 months;
- Satisfactory completion of at least fourteen weeks of a basic course in laboratory technique offered by one of the branches of the Armed Forces with at least six months of experience in general laboratory work;
- Certified or Certified eligible from a national certifying agency.
