Phlebotomist II Territory

This position requires a state phlebotomy license. (Quest does not accept NHA licenses in CA, WA, NV.) Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required.

Pay

Pay range: $27.70 - $33.05 per hour. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (subject to vary), with rotational weekends.

Responsibilities

• Travel within an assigned territory to deliver professional phlebotomy services at Patient Service Centers (PSCs), Client Offices (IOPs), or other sites.
• Ensure accurate specimen collection, patient identification, and adherence to testing protocols.
• Communicate effectively to create a professional and efficient experience for patients, staff, and clients.
• Work independently with a consistently low error rate and handle complex collections and patient/client situations.
• Demonstrate the Quest 5Cs—Customer First, Care, Collaboration, Curiosity, and Continuous Improvement—in all interactions.

Specimen Collection & Processing

• Perform specimen collections (venipuncture, capillary draws) following established procedures for various tests.
• Handle difficult draws, including pediatric, geriatric, and hard sticks with minimal error.
• Obtain patient identification and signatures to confirm specimen labeling accuracy.
• Prepare specimens for transport and testing (labeling, centrifuging, splitting, storage).
• Research test/client information and verify orders using lab technology systems.

Patient Experience & Customer Service

• Resolve routine patient and client concerns; escalate non-routine issues appropriately.
• Provide professional, respectful, and efficient service.
• Use verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills to address patient questions.
• Perform accurate data entry for registration, test orders, and billing.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and welcoming collection environment.
• Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Site Support and Travel

• Provide coverage across PSCs and Client Offices within the assigned territory with minimal notice.
• Ensure daily office activities are completed accurately and on time.
• Maintain reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record (if applicable).

Operations & Compliance

• Obtain identification, enter billing information, and collect payments following corporate policies.
• Follow departmental policies, safety protocols, and compliance standards, including patient confidentiality.
• Utilize laboratory systems, directories, and corporate tools for order confirmation and documentation.
• Support administrative tasks: supply stocking, sanitizing, maintaining logs, filing, email, and phone use.
• Complete all training and maintain current phlebotomy skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• Two years of phlebotomy experience required.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (preferred).
• High School diploma or equivalent (required).
• Phlebotomy certification required in CA, NV, WA, and LA.
• Travel up to 75%.
• English proficiency (required).

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Lift up to 15 lbs frequently; up to 40 lbs occasionally (with assistance).
• Regularly perform repetitive hand motions with fine dexterity; stand or sit for extended periods.
• Frequent walking and standing; occasional bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, or pulling.
• Extensive use of phone and computer; frequent communication in English with patients and clients.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of phlebotomy best practices, including pediatric and geriatric draws.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting.
• Experienced in pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Strong communication skills and adaptability to change.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Phlebotomy accredited program, medical assistant, or paramedic training.
• Professional medical certification (e.g., medical assistant, phlebotomy).
