General Summary
Demonstrates phlebotomy skills with speed, safety and accuracy on all patient types. Prioritizes, accesses, labels, and distributes specimens for testing to appropriate departments. Handles incoming calls with courtesy and efficiency. Maintains appearance of work area with cleanliness and adequate supply stock.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Phlebotomy expertise
- Ability to work with L.I.S.
- Must provide own source of transportation for off-site collections
- Previous clerical experience with telephone, fax machine, copier, and office computer software preferred
- Medical terminology course preferred
Required Length And Type Of Experience
- 2-3 years experience in a hospital/clinical laboratory environment (preferred) with experience in performing phlebotomy and specimen processing
- Experience in working with neonates, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients
Required Licensure Or Certification
- Certified PBT (ASCP) or equivalent
Required Physical And Environmental Demands
- High energy level required to maintain good turn around time
- Frequent prolonged driving, standing, walking, bending, lifting, manual dexterity and mobility
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs
