Responsibilities

  • Obtain quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
  • Provide rapid response to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, fostering an inclusive work environment and interacting with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Use a variety of computer programs and systems throughout the day.
  • Accurately identify patients, label, handle, and transport specimens, answer phones, assist with the training of students and new employees.
  • Must complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency (ASCP, NHA, ASPT).
  • Experience working in a medical field, preferred.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects.
  • Ability to push a cart and walk distances.

Requirements

Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Pay and Schedule

The pay range for Phlebotomist I is $20.00- $25.09 per hour. The pay range for Phlebotomist II is $20.00 - $26.79 per hour.

Schedule

Part Time
Weekdays: Minimum of 8 hours in addition to the weekend per pay period.
Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend (Friday/Saturday) 10PM-6:00am.
Holidays: Every other Holiday 10PM-6:00am.
