Phlebotomist - Hospital

About the role

Performs venipuncture and skin puncture procedures in a hospital setting, serving patients from newborn to geriatric.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples using various techniques
• Verify patient identity and ensure specimen labeling accuracy
• Respond promptly to stat and timed orders
• Support trauma and code response teams
• Collect samples for diagnostic testing, including complex blood draws and blood cultures
• Participate in proficiency testing, re-education, and continuing education to maintain quality standards
• Ensure timely collection of specimens, especially for trauma patients

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 6 months of phlebotomy experience or completion of a phlebotomy training program
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire

Schedule

• Rotating weekends and holidays
• Call shifts
