Responsibilities
- Performs venipuncture and specimen collection from patients of all ages, ensuring proper identification and labeling.
- Assesses patient reactions and follows protocols for specimen collection and processing.
- Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines.
- Answers calls, manages inventory, and supports billing functions.
- Accepts, sorts, packages, and tracks specimens, ensuring accuracy and timely transport.
- Verifies test requests and documents quality assurance data.
- Runs quality control checks and communicates critical results.
- Enters results into the computer system and performs proficiency testing.
- Generates reports and trains staff and students in phlebotomy, data entry, and specimen handling.
- Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific patient care and growth/development principles.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required.
- No prior experience necessary.
Skills
- Knowledge of phlebotomy.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Multitasking abilities.
Physical & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Operate lab equipment.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
