Phlebotomist-Cert - Phlebotomy (Full Time, Half Time And Per Diem)

About the role

The Facility at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina seeks a Phlebotomy position. This role involves identifying patients, obtaining specimens using venous or capillary methods, verifying and labeling specimens, and prioritizing and transporting them within the stipulated TAT.

Responsibilities

• Provides direction and guidance for non-certified phlebotomists regarding specimen acceptability, unusual or difficult draws, and related issues.
• Accurately collects and receives specimens in accordance with established laboratory protocols and procedures.
• Fulfills universal precautions, safety, fire safety, disaster response, exposure, bloodborne and airborne pathogens, hazardous materials, and chain of custody procedures.
• Assists with the orientation of laboratory procedures for students and new laboratory employees.
• Performs duties to cover in the absence of a Phlebotomy Technical Specialist or Phlebotomy Coordinator.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification through ASCP, AMT, NHA, ACA, or NCCT required.

Qualifications

• Possesses knowledge/skill of appropriate blood collection/handling techniques.
• Interacts with patients according to the Erickson model of development.
• Capable of performing moderate to heavy amounts of walking and light lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Has manual dexterity and near visual acuity, including the ability to discern colors.
• May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
